Sinking Concrete Repair NSW
Sinking, rocking or uneven concrete is more than an eyesore. It's a trip hazard, and a sign the ground beneath the slab is failing. Our concrete sinking repair service fills the voids underneath and lifts the slab back towards level, without breaking it out.
Signs Your Concrete Is Sinking
One slab sitting lower than the next, leaving a lip or trip hazard
Rocking slabs that move or tip when you step on them
A hollow sound when you walk across the slab
Gaps opening between the concrete and the house, garage or pool
Water pooling on the slab or running towards the house
New cracks appearing as sections drop
The earlier sinking concrete is repaired, the cheaper and simpler the fix. Voids under a slab tend to grow, and a slab that is only sinking today can crack tomorrow.
What Causes Concrete to Sink?
Concrete is only as stable as the ground underneath it. The most common causes are soil movement, erosion and water washout from leaking downpipes or stormwater, poor compaction before the original pour, and tree roots drawing moisture from the soil. Where water has washed the ground away, we fill the voids as part of the repair (see Void Filling & Soil Stabilisation).
Rocking Slabs: Why They Move and How We Fix Them
A slab rocks when the ground beneath it has washed away or settled unevenly, leaving it balanced on a high point. Each time it's stepped or driven on, it tips, and the movement makes the void underneath bigger.
Trip Hazard Repair for Homes, Businesses and Councils
A lip of just a few centimetres is enough to trip someone, and for businesses, strata and councils that is a safety and liability risk. Grinding the lip down leaves a sloped, patchy surface and doesn't stop the slab sinking further. Lifting the low slab back to level removes the trip hazard instantly.
We repair trip hazards on footpaths, driveways, house surrounds, shop entries, strata common areas and council paths. For larger sites, see Commercial Slab Levelling.

Sinking Concrete Repair FAQs
Yes. As long as the slab is mostly in one piece, filling the voids beneath it and lifting it level stops the rocking without replacement.
Most residential trip hazard repairs are done in a few hours and the area can be used again the same day or within 24 hours in most circumstances.
Lifting brings cracked sections back towards level and stops them moving. The cracks themselves will still be visible.
